Recreation

At MIGS we offer a recreational gymnastics programme for children from as young as 5 years through to 16. Our classes are co-educational and are offered to children of all ages and abilities. Our classes present enjoyment and challenge to children through:

  • Promotion of fitness
  • Achievement based learning
  • Development of balance, flexibility and coordination
  • Learning of movement patterns which can be transferred to all sports
  • Learning at children's own pace in a safe environment
  • Problem solving

Children in our recreation programme learn to land, balance, spring, rotate, swing and locomote. The ability to land, is the most important skill to learn, as it is a "Life Skill". Your children will also develop flexibility, strength, spatial awareness, co-ordination and orientation.

In the last week of each term we have "fun day". This is where the children join in for team games and challenges, then we have supervised play on the equipment. Parents are welcome to join in, watch their children and have a go on the equipment.

Programmes that we run in our recreational classes are:
