Why Gymnasitcs?
Gymnastics is a form of physical activity that develops muscular strength and endurance, balance, coordination, and flexibility. It also serves as a vehicle that helps children establish self-esteem and strive for achievable goals.
Dominant movement patterns (DMP’s) are the building blocks of gymnastics movements. All gymnastic and whole body movements are made up of a combination of the six movement patterns (landings, statics, spring, locomotion, swing, and rotation). These DMP’s form the basic and fundamental movement skills and body management needed for work, sport and recreational activities.
Many people never consider gymnastics when looking for a recreational activity for their children. Here are some reasons why you should:
